Have I ever mentioned that Chibishop didn't respond at all when I tried to do a special request order on the Takaguchi's Aqua Roses? Have I mentioned how that really pissed me off, but after snapping at Doki Doki, I wasn't in the mood to demand that Chibishop at least acknowledge my request. Have I ever mentioned that if some people want to set up a business selling djs really should take a crash course in customer service? Really, if either Doki Doki or Chibishop had said "Nope, can't do it. Sorry." I would now be praising them for their honesty. Instead, I'm bitching about their faults in a public forum. *sighs* So, I tried to at least upload the new SK page, but I screwed up the coding majorly when I wrote it. 10/25/2001
Is anyone at all surprised that the webpage wasn't updated this weekend? No? Good. I like being predictable at times. To my list, I would also like to add one thing. Change those SY cover scans from .tif to .jpg format, and let Aithine have them. Slooowly working my way through my to do list. 10/21/2001
Tarepandas are everywhere!!!! They're going to take over the world! Case in point, DNAngel #4, Riku, the more stable twin, has a pair of tarepanda pjs! *whines* I wanna pair!!! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT It's late and I'm punchy, can everyone tell? Oooh yes. YEAH Mariners! Thank you, thank you, thank you for kicking the Yankees ass tonight! Atlanta, I couldn't bear to watch you tonight. Those first few innings were just sad... 10/19/2001
Okay, webpage type stuff that I'd like to do this weekend: --Get Kaho humor thingie set up into a page. --Upload updated Sakende Yaruze! page. --Add DNAngel translations link. --Debate setting up that gallery page yet again. --Tinker and upload at least some of the Sakende Yaruze scans Aithine asked for. Hmmmm, I think that's all. It doesn't look like much, so I might actually get it done.

Sooooooooo, I "did" a Renfest with 2 very old friends this year. Lori complained about the amount of people most of the time. Denise and I made fun of the people in costume. ( All quotes subject to my bad memory..."The line of that child's dress is ruined by the training bra!" *eyes wides as the prow of the ship aka one woman's chest in the Ren. wonderbra goes by*turns to Denise* D: "I saw her." M: "That woman just adjusted her chest in the parking lot.") Lori spent a lot of time telling us not to be so mean. We didn't listen at all. Watched a comedy troupe called Shakespeare's Skum fracture "Othello." I'd seen the show before, but I still loved it. Classic plays and social satire is a good thing! Also watched "The Mud Show" for the first time in a long time. There's something nice about watching men roll about in the mud. Pity only one of the mudrollers was cute. A real pity... Knowing my lack of control, I left my credit card, and checks at home, and I only brought 50 bucks. So, instead of buying the lovely silver bracelet, I instead bought myself the extremely PINK copper wire flamingo. I own lawn chichi now! It's great! Not that it's in the lawn or anything, but I own it! Sadly, my control shattered the next day, and I bought a highly expensive scarf at the Sugarloaf craft festival, and some highly expensive soap for presents. Let's not even talk about my trip to MysteryBooks at Dupont the next day.. 10/16/2001

As my piece of RenFest chichi this year... I am now a proud owner of a copper wire flamingo. It is pink, and I am happy... 10/12/2001
Oh, hey, I did actually mean to blog about something... After 6 months, I have received my Connexions vidtape. Unless somethings changes for next year, I am not ordering another. No matter how much I like the vids (not that I remember any of them at this date), waiting 6 months for them in unacceptable. And I would just like to say, WOW, is my blog blue now... Gonna have to figure out what I did and how to fix it. 10/11/2001
Bored. Restless. Twitchy. I want to spend money. No, I want to go to LA and spend money. *sighs* I will control my impluses. I will. I will. 10/10/2001
Rant alert! I can't spend my life being bitchy about not getting the doujinshi I want, so I'll be bitchy about certain subsets of yaoi manga fandom. There seems to be an attitude going round that since yaoi/June/shounen-ai/whatever is a outgrowth of Japanese culture it 0must be interpreted/view as the Japanese would do so. A fuller statement of the thesis seems to be, since it was created to be viewed exclusively by the Japanese, another culture can't take the Japanese ideas and add their own cultural spin. This idea pisses me off. So what if the Japanese just created yaoi and it's cliches/codes/ideas for themselves? The ideas have merit outside of the Japanese culture. Other cultures (namely Western/USA in this case) will pick up these ideas, and filter them through their culture. However, so people don't want to see the filtering take place. They seem to believe that clinging to the original ideas is the right thing to do, and putting an American spin on the ideas is a bad, bad thing. WHY IS THIS WRONG? This is what cultures do. They borrow ideas and play with them. They twist them into something that fits them. They adapt! Sometimes, they even throw the ideas back. It's not wrong! IT'S GROWTH! Any culture that stays static and does not adapt will wither. These folks don't seem to get that idea. They don't realize that they inhibating the free exchange of ideas. There is a reason that only about 10 people talk regularly on that list. They say they want free exchange of ideas, but the ideas must cling to a narrow border of what they consider yaoi. Let's not even talk about the desire to neatly classify every idea today. I'll save that for another time. 10/9/2001
*sighs* I am such a freak... I can't be simple in my obsessions, and just desire dj about anime shows. No, I have to desire dj about original series from the mangaka who created the series. *sighs* 10/5/2001
Random rant alert! Ladies & Gentleman who supply doujinshi to us fools in the United States. IF you're running it as a company, then act like a company. This means answering promptly when people try and file special requests. Even a "We've got your request, and we're looking into it" is just fine. Dead silence, no matter who is where is bad. Who am I talking about? Doki Doki Station If they come up the dj I requested, I'm sure I'll love and adore them. Right now, they're just an inch away from being on my "never deal with again" list. |
